CorelDraw! 102 : Beginning with CorelDraw!

Now we could open a new page in 12"x12"

We are going to import a background :
click on FILES > IMPORT

or click on the icon(I customize my icon by adding a red arrow), it's the same icon in the FILES menu.

A window opens and I choose my file.

As CorelDraw is a program for publishing and printing, the resolution is 300 dpi by default. Your 12x12 background will be exactly the same size as your page.
When you import, you see an angle with the name of the file you import, you could place it where you want.

Click in the angle for example, and you'll see your paper appearing.

Notice the selection square at the angles and the sides middle. That means that this element is selected.
The four directions arrow means that you could displace your element in the direction you want

Now we will place it at the exact borders of the page.
Click on the two buttons , magnetic rules. You could find it here too : VIEW > SNAP GUIDELINES and SNAP to OBJECTS (or something like that....)

You could add guidelines by simply clik and stay clik on the rulers and displace the mouse toe the place you need a guideline.

Place one guideline along each side of your page.

By clicking twice just on the black line around your page you will obtain a pop up window where you could add a frame to the page (bottom button)

Now you could snap your guideline to the page frame. Small help will appear in blue to help you to place exactly your guidelines.

Now you see your guidelines, some thin interrupted lines.
When one of these lines is selected, it becomes red and you could displace it as an element.

By clicking twice in a guideline or an element, some round arrow appear,

that means you could turn your element as you want, and if you keep the CTRL key pushed, you could turn it 15° by 15°.

Return to a page view mode by clicking on this icon : ZOOM ON THE PAGE

You could take your element and place it exactly in the center of your page, it will snap itself along the guidelines. You could also place an element by selecting it and click on the menu DISPOSITION > ALIGN AND DISTRIBUTE > CENTER ON THE PAGE or shortcut (P)

You are now ready to add photos and elements by IMPORTING them on your page.

Next step in another tutorial.
