DROP SHADOWS
• Open the Artwork & Effects Palette - Icon # 3 (“Apply Effects, Filters & layer Styles)
• Special Effects
• Choose “layer Styles” from menu on left and “Drop Shadows” from the menu on right.
• Click on shadow icon of your choice
• A Layer Style Icon now appears on the layer with the drop shadow.
NOTE: I have typed instructions for Drop Shadows, but the instructions are the same for all other styles.
ADJUSTING A LAYER STYLE
• To adjust shadows (or any other layer style) double click on the layer icon on the layer.
• When the “Style Settings” dialog box comes up, you can:
Move the angle line inside the circle to change the direction of the light (global setting 120 degrees)
Move the shadow slider to change the shadow size, distance & opacity
Add Glows (inner & outer), Bevel & Stroke (see instructions with Pic3)
• To get rid of a layer style – right click on the layer & choose “Clear Layer Style”
• To copy a layer style to another layer – right click on the layer & choose “Copy Layer Style from the pop up menu.
• To ADD the copied layer style to one or more layers, select the layer/s right click on the Layers Palette and choose “Paste layer Style” from the pop up menu.
Fully expanding the “Style Settings” dialog box will allow you to add further effects (such as glows, bevel & stroke) to the layer to achieve some interesting and different effects. Take the time to experiment with the various Effects and Layer Styles.
