Traffic signal boxes are often targeted by graffiti vandals due to their highly visible location adjacent to major roads. This is a creative way to involve the community and other organisations to improve the amenity of city and deter vandalism. Painting can help to reduce their attractiveness to vandals - trials in other areas have shown that painted boxes are three times less likely to attract graffiti than unpainted boxes. Since March 2008, 89 traffic boxes have been painted across the city with wonderful designs inspired by the local community and the environment. The initiative has proven extremely successful, with graffiti on the boxes down by 80 per cent.

Super !!! It's a very interesting thing to learn !! You see art is not only something useless ! I always try to find the interest of art when someone ask me (with pursed lips) "Oh, you study art ! What for ???"LOL !

how cool...we have a lot of painted stobie poles here, they're ugly enuff of their own but with a splash of paint they look great just like these do...great LO

Great page to show us those pieces of art. I have heard of these before as my Ruth was going to apply to paint one but never got around to doing so.
